Our 2023 Merlot marked our second vintage—another tiny, one-barrel production from an exceptional growing year in Napa Valley. Beautiful weather gave us gorgeous fruit and a wine that captures both the richness of Napa and the balance and elegance we’re always chasing.
A vintage to remember.
The 2023 vintage was one of those rare Napa Valley years when everything seemed to come together. A long, moderate growing season allowed our Merlot from Corona Vineyards to ripen slowly and beautifully. Oak Knoll’s cooler climate proved once again why this corner of Napa is so well suited to Merlot. We blended in 5% Petit Verdot to add a touch of color, structure, and depth while preserving the wine’s smooth, approachable character. The result is an elegant, easy-drinking Merlot with generous fruit, polished tannins, and just enough structure to keep you coming back for another glass.
Remarks
Silky and balanced, this vintage offers a plush texture and refined structure, unfolding in a long, gentle finish. Pair with herb-roasted chicken, earthy mushroom dishes, or a rustic cheese board. Or enjoy this wine alone, letting its character take center state.
95% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
Weather
A cool, wet winter replenished the soil and awakened the vines. Spring and summer brought long sunny days and crisp nights, encouraging slow, even ripening. A long, try autumn allowed harvest at ideal maturity, making 2023 an exceptional and memorable vintage.
